Children and Youth on the Move in Eastern Africa

Research and Evidence Launch and Workshop

This event, which took place on 21 November 2023, signified the culmination of the two-year East African Migration Routes (EAMR) project, a collaborative effort between MMC and Save the Children International (SCI), funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, dedicated to evidence-based programming for children and youth on the move.

It featured the launch of MMC 4Mi data collected in 2022-23 in Sudan and Ethiopia and research products on children and youth on the move as well as interventions from key child protection and migration actors working in the region. The event examined the following topics:

1. Protection risks and abuses among children and youth on the move

2. Drivers and onward movement intentions of children and youth on the move

3. Unique experiences of caregivers and of unaccompanied and separated children on the move

4. Future trends and research and evidence needs on children and youth on the move in the region.
