13,740 migrants and refugees arrived in Italy by sea via the central Mediterranean route despite worsening sea conditions. This is over four times the number who arrived by sea in Italy in November 2015. Nationals from Nigeria and Guinea accounted for the largest number of res- cued migrants and refugee.
