Generating Evidence on Protection and Onward Movement along the Central and Western Mediterranean Routes

In 2024, MMC has signed a new partnership with UNHCR's Office of the Special Envoy for the Central and Western Mediterranean Situation, to support 4Mi data collection and analysis on protection risks and onward movement along key mixed movement routes crossing East and the Horn of Africa, North Africa and Europe.

Examining the cross-border migration patterns and experiences of people impacted by extreme weather in the Horn of Africa

From January-March 2024, MMC ESA will collect data and carry out research on movements from Ethiopia and Somalia into Northern Kenya (in Moyale, Mandera and Garissa) linked to drought and flooding. The research will directly inform and support regional DRC climate displacement programming in the Horn of Africa funded by GFFO.

MMC Global signed a new 3-year cooperation with the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which supports MMC’s overall strategy, organisational development, the development of the annual Mixed Migration Review, and a flexible funding mechanism, supporting targeted data collection and research on emerging migration dynamics.
