Virtual research report launch
The research report on the “Impact of Climate Change on the Migration and Displacement Dynamics of Rohingya Refugees” was undertaken as part of the Protecting Refugees in Asia (PRiA) project to examine the complex ways in which climate change specifically affects (im)mobility for the Rohingya, and to what extent environmental factors interact with other social, economic, and political factors in driving (im)mobility, increasing protection risks, and impacting prospects for achieving durable solutions.
Following a presentation by the Mixed Migration Centre and the Asia Displacement Solutions Platform of the report’s key findings and recommendations, a discussion was held to consider how to build climate-resilient and sustainable responses and solutions for Rohingya refugees.
The panel discussion included:
- Mr. Bradley Mellicker, Senior Regional Emergency and Post Crisis Regional Specialist, International Migration Organisation
- Dr. Samantha Sharpe, Research Director, Institute for Sustainable Futures, University of Technology Sydney
- Ms. Dayoon Kim, Research Associate, Stockholm Environment Institute
