Examining the state of mixed movement data and research along the Southern Route
In collaboration with UNHCR’s Regional Bureau for Southern Africa, IOM’s Regional Office for Southern Africa and the Regional Data Hub for East and the Horn of Africa, MMC will be co-organizing a Southern Route hybrid research event on 25 March 2024 in Pretoria, South Africa. The event will include presentations on key pieces of the most recent research and a facilitated discussion on key evidence gaps and needs. MMC, UNHCR and IOM are seeking the participation of regional economic communities (including SADC), national and local government actors, embassy and donor government focal points working on refugee and mixed movement issues, humanitarian and development actors working on mixed movement or refugee issues along the Southern Route, and academia specialising in the topics of South-South migration and the Southern Route.
