Workshop on Transnational Lived Citizenship

Nairobi, Kenya

MMC Eastern and Southern Africa | Egypt & Yemen will take part in the Workshop on Transnational Lived Citizenship on Emerging Diaspora in the Horn of Africa, taking place in Nairobi on 22-23 February 2023.

The workshop aims to better understand how refugees and migrants from the Horn of Africa abroad maintain connections with their countries of origin. The workshop is organized and facilitated by AMADPOC and the Global Development Initiative from the University of Manchester.

MMC will participate in a panel entitled ‘Responses to Crisis’, where it will present its latest research on drought-induced mobility of Ethiopians across the Horn of Africa. The intervention will zoom in on how people and households affected by climate make decisions regarding their movements, or non-movement, aiming at better understanding how households may become transnational by spreading risks.
